Andy Benzo, a seasoned legal language expert and legal translator, boasts an impressive career spanning over 35 years. Specializing in English-Spanish translations, she holds degrees in Law and Translation from Argentina, her homeland, and a Paralegal Degree from California State, San Marcos, USA.
Since 1999, Andy has been an esteemed member of the American Translators Association (ATA), earning her certification and contributing significantly to the organization. She served as the Assistant Administrator of the Spanish Language Division and was the host of the popular Podcast, Charlas de Café (2020-2022).
Currently, she serves as the Chair of the Divisions Committee, Chair of the Governance and Communications Committee, and is the President-Elect of ATA.
Fervent about promoting standards, Andy actively collaborates in language standards development in ASTM and serves as an ANSI expert in ISO.
For many years, Andy was an instructor in the Translation & Interpretation Certificate Program at UCSD Extension, where she imparted her knowledge of Legal and Business translation. She was a founding member of ATISDA (Association of Translators and Interpreters in the San Diego Area) and led the association as its President for six years.
In addition to her other roles, Andy is a professional speaker, sharing her expertise on Civil Law, US Law, and Legal translation at both national and international forums. She is passionate about law, language, technology, and commitment to excellence.
